Tattoo Pricing

You are paying us for our skills, time, and materials. Therefore, the price of your tattoo is highly dependent on a number of factors.

  • Size. This is perhaps the most obvious of the variants for tattoo pricing. A large, simple tattoo will typically cost more than a small, simple tattoo because more time is needed to tattoo more skin.
  • Detail. A highly detailed design will take more time to tattoo. Something with a lot of vines, dots, shading, highlights, shadows, etc, can really tack on the minutes, or hours, needed to perfect every aspect of the tattoo.
  • Coloring. A full color tattoo will not always cost more than a graywash tattoo. This is all dependant on the design. Some designs require a gray wash to be tattooed before a second layer of color can be put in the skin to get the right shading effect needed. These kinds of tattoos will take a little more time, which may affect the cost.
  • Location. The area that you plan to tattoo can be a huge determining factor of the cost of the tattoo. All of our artists have been tattooing for at least the better part of a decade. They have witnessed general customer behavior during tattoos and general customer habits of aftercare. They know what areas of your tattoo are going to be problematic or likely to cause you discomfort (which can lead to longer tattoo times, due to breaks.) These factors make the location important for pricing since some regions are more difficult to work on, or suseptible to needing a "touch-up".

Price Shopping

Your tattoo artist will quote a price on the tattoo of your choice taking all the above into consideration. Do not shop for a tattoo based on price alone. A cheap tattoo is not necessarily a good tattoo. We fix a lot of “cheap tattoos” at Cloud Nine. You’ll have better results and save yourself money if you look for a quality artist and get it done correctly the first time.

Our shop minimum is $50 for a tattoo which is fairly standard among quality tattoo studios in our area. Be wary of any studios with significantly lower prices since they may be compromising the safety or quality of the tattoo in order to keep it inexpensive.

To be fair, we do not price tattoos over the phone or by email. Tattoos are something you cannot and should not attempt to do comparison price shopping. The product is ART and is highly variable. Unlike shopping for a particular brand and size of television at various retail outlets, for example, artistic style and expression is not standardized from one artist to another and therefore not comparable.

Pricing requires a very interactive discussion where we must show you that we are imagining the same thing that you are which may or may not include us sketching out a design. We also need to see the skin where we will be working so that we can advise you further on the size, placement in proximity to other tattoos or skin "blemishes", shapes that will best flatter your physique, and color shades that will compliment your skin tone.

No Pressure

If you come in for price quote and you decide for whatever reason that you do not want to get a tattoo that day you are certainly not obligated to move forward just because you chatted with us. This is no-pressure tattoo studio. Our desire is to give you the tattoo that you really want, when you want it and where you want it. If the time just isn't right we understand. You can always come back at a later date.

Forms of Payment

We understand some customers ask about prices so they will know how much money to bring with them. We try to accomodate this as much as possible by accepting debit cards and all major credit cards so you do not have to bother with carrying the right amount of cash.

Piercing Pricing

All of our piercing prices are posted in the store. This ensures that everyone gets equal treatment and fair pricing. Someone's price will not be influenced by anything other than price of jewelry, supplies, and difficulty. Some piercings are common to be pierced in multiples (earlobes, nipples), so we have discounted those piercings accordingly. There is no discount for getting two different types of piercings in the same visit such as a tongue piercing and a nostril piercing.

  • Sorry, customers cannot bring their own jewelry for new piercings because we must use high quality, properly sterilized jewelry for all new piercings.
  • All prices include sterile jewelry and aftercare. No sales tax on piercings or tattoos.
  • Free jewelry change out and tapering is offered with a jewelry purchase, at the time of purchase(except on genital piercings.)
  • Bringing in outside jewelry: Change-out $5 ea. ($10 for genital piercings) and Tapers $10 ea. ($15 for genital piercings)
Piercing prices are as follows:
